Last week I backpacked for the first time in my life! I did the Trans-Catalina Trail which involved 40 miles over 5 days. Truly happy to have done this to get a break from the stresses of being a young scientist right now. Ran into 🦬, tidepooled for sea 🐌, and photographed many 🐦s and island 🦊s

Last week I backpacked for the first time in my life! I did the Trans-Catalina Trail which involved 40 miles over 5 days. Truly happy to have done this to get a break from the stresses of being a young scientist right now. Ran into 🦬, tidepooled for sea 🐌, and photographed many 🐦s and island 🦊s
Success! This summer I was collaborating with CDFW on banding Mourning Doves on our campus but getting no luck with birds being trapped until my final day as a student! We got this Hatch Year Mourning Dove yesterday evening! 🕊️ Bird was trapped, handled, and banded under proper permits!

Finally made it back home from #IUWC2025 What a time! Hands down my favorite conference I’ve attended and my first time being a part of this group! Thank you to @tws-uwwg.bsky.social for making this an incredible experience! Definitely plan on attending and presenting again in Milwaukee 2027 😊

Well… I suppose amidst all the chaos and creation happening in academic science, I should share the news I was awarded special recognition by my department at Cal State LA (the Department of Biological Sciences)! Thanks to my PI @laecology.bsky.social and the department for nominating me! 😊

What better to exit a rough week for science than visiting @nhmla.bsky.social and presenting! I got to present my project using urban raptor observations in iNaturalist today alongside other participants from the R coding workshop three weeks ago! Super happy to have been a part of this workshop! 😁

Really happy to have attended and be one of the lucky 25 to participate in the community science R coding workshop by @nhmla.bsky.social this past Saturday! Coding inaturalist data is a juggernaut of work, but worth it! Can’t wait to present my project in a couple of weeks! 😬

Had an excellent time helping out the Folsom Christmas Bird Count yesterday! I’ve been a part of this count since 2017 and I always get put in a new spot each year. This year I joined the lead compiler and found all these incredible bird species! Bonus photos in the comments section!

These are photos I took at the Ballona Wetlands and Ballona Discovery Park yesterday with LA Audubon! The birds are: Scaly-breasted Munia, Indigo Bunting (immature male), Ruddy Duck (male), and Merlin! Hands down the Indigo Bunting was the star of the show! 🙌
