I had the honor of giving a virtual presentation to a nutrition class this morning at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on food and culture. I enjoyed sharing about Native community food systems and sharing a bit of Potawatomi history and traditions. The class cooked mnomen after my talk!

If you're a public school teacher, please consider emphasizing seasons over holidays. Not all students celebrate the same holidays, if any. Winter is a great reminder to center seasons over holidays in lessons and decorations to foster an inclusive learning environment.

As a settler holiday approaches, how are we doing with action-oriented, non-performative land acknowledgments and actual land back (you know, where the Tribe has unequivocal Tribal sovereignty and not another "agreement" with a Tribe and organization to further White saviorism)?
