Slightly more commercially available is the Montreal 1642 tartan, created for Montreal's 375th anniversary (in 2017). This is what comes up when I try to Google the McGill University tartan, but it's nice! (www.standrews.qc.ca/montreal-164...; www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetail...)

A blustery coastal start to the May long weekend, which we 100% forgot was happening until we got to the dock to find that everyone else was *arriving* on the island. But we departed with a sense of accomplishment (and ~6 large bins of trash)!

I was going to ask you all whether we agree yet on whether the Canadian Shift and the Californian Shift are the same change in progress, but a quick Wikipedia check suggests that we do, and it's called the low-back merger shift. So that's cool! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-Bac...

I used a new dip pen and new ink for my todo list today as a motivational strategy, and it was great, but I am genuinely mystified by the names of the colours in this ink series. This one is a blue/teal with red shimmer, and it's called… Ham #65? With an icon of a little monkey in a submersible??

This week's non-traditional success in saying "no" to things was NOT buying an adorable wooden diorama kit, because I have no time for new hobbies and would just feel guilty about it sitting on the shelf, and instead buying this much smaller scale Lego sakura blossom model.

Is anyone else familiar with the symbol below, a kind of checkmark that starts with an extra leg, meaning "half correct"? I swear this was used by my teachers growing up, but internet searches are failing me.

Taking the opportunity to share a very tangentially related fact: one time in undergrad I actually played Trump: The Game (which came out 2 years after The Art of the Deal). I won by literally hiding money in my sock.

It has become a tradition in my household for everyone to get a personal Big Ass Toblerone at Christmas, so on a recent Costco run I got two. Unfortunately, I'm bad at judging scale from memory, and it turns out these, at 750g, are a bit over 2x the size of the ones we usually get (360g).
