A De La Mennais Brother sharing the love of Christ: musician, cyclist, film + tech geek, Saints fan. What's your passion?
Lovely to be able to share my personal testimony with a group of nearly 30 lycéens (6th formers) in Brest this evening, and to help with the music for the mass that began our time together. A big thanks to Sr. Clémence and her fellow Sisters of St John for inviting me!

were followed by a bite to eat with my fellow musicians. They are such a lovely bunch. I feel privileged to call them friends and colleagues and I hope to be able to share my faith and make music with them again in the future.

As well as being a lead member of the house worship band, inc. for the mass celebrated by the Bishop in the afternoon, I am responsible for (and compèring) a one hour concert given in the early evening by music and theatre groups from around the diocese who have volunteered to share their talents...

It’s not often you get the chance to play in a giant arena to over 4000 people! After months of preparation, tomorrow we finally have our day-long diocesan Pentecost celebration during which the fruits of our diocesan synod journey will be shared via a combination of liturgy, music and theatre…

"... The light quietly shines forth, even though we are in darkness;... a new beginning, however impossible it might seem, can take us by surprise, for Christ has triumphed over death."

(Pope Francis' Easter Vigil homily read by Card. Giovanni Battista Re 19 April 2025)

RIP Pope Francis.

"When the thought of death lies heavy on our hearts, when we see the dark shadows of evil advancing in our world, when we feel the wounds of selfishness or violence festering in our flesh and in our society, let us not lose heart, but return to the message of this night. ..

It's at times like this that having an EU (Irish) passport comes in extra handy! @schiphol.bsky.social The non-EU (inc. UK) queue at passport control went on for a few 100 metres!! Us EU bods were able to use self-service with no queue. #Brexit #Breturn

The things I do for my faith! At a youth retreat this week in Brittany, an icebreaker involved a French version of “rock, paper, scissors”, evolving from egg to cock/chicken. At this point of the game I’m stuck as a chick, hence me wandering around on my knees! #SimplyLife

One of the many compensatory factors for having our religious community within a +60 bed conference Centre is that our head chef is a former restaurant owner.😃🥗 #foodforbodyandsoul

This morning we were shrouded in mist here, but on Monday I dashed up onto our roof straight after breakfast to capture the glorious explosion of colour covering the sky. My hands were freezing, but it was worth it.

🤣🤣🤣 Apparently the Neruda would be a good match for me, but the Rahner a poor match which surprises me given how much I appreciated the study of his "Foundations Of Christian Faith"! ☹️🍷

Took a stroll down the steep-sloped woodland on our property to the Aulne river (+ Brest-Nantes canal) today for the first time since pre-Storm Ciarán. The network of criss-crossing paths down the hill was for many months out of bounds due to the number of fallen trees.

After numerous Christmas concerts, school liturgies + masses, parish masses, today’s mass for the Solemnity of the mother of our Lord was the last of the season's musical responsibilities. It’s been lovely helping parishioners + young people celebrate the Christmas story in song.

Yesterday, there was a slight break in the relentless cloud cover and fog of the past week, letting the sons raise traverse our beautiful grounds here in Châteaulin.

"..The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer + supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Phi 4).
