At 53, if I awake in the middle of the night, I only wait a few minutes before jumping into a hot shower, in the dark, for a few minutes. It almost always works to put me right back to sleep.

i think this could be taken a step further: with all the hubbub in the US about a possible tiktok ban, is arguable that society's addiction to social media is another symptom of this shallowness and disregard for meaning.

pollan's words, and encouragement of a friend, persuaded me to do it. as a younger person i was too scared to risk losing control. i am glad i waited. i feel i was spiritually prepared in my 40s to integrate into my life what i experienced. i doubt i'd have gotten much out of it in my youth.

this book also opened my eyes to another way of tapping into the unknown. this discovery has taken me on a road i never thought i'd travel, and it's been exciting, liberating, and full of new knowledge! in fact, the most meaningful spiritual experience i ever had occurred after i "took the plunge"

SAME!! i use my iphone to record my dreams, which has been a very enlightening experience! I have to repeatedly remind myself that dreams that seem to be inconsequential are actually upon awakening often very profound and meaningful!
