I want to learn how to go with the pierogis! it's very intimidating but I think I can do it?

a bunch of grandmas spend three days making the pierogis at this massive church kitchen and then there are four huge tables of raffle prizes of everything from gift cards to Polish pottery to alcohol to gift baskets from local businesses!

- 48 homemade pierogis (I cooked 12 as soon as we got home, they're so fucking good)
- 7 bottles of wine and 2 bottles of vodka
- maple tea
- fresh cream and eggs
- a ton of produce
- weed
- a gift basket full of yarn and crochet/knitting materials that Mel won as a raffle prize at the pierogi sale

it made it easier to convince her to "randomly" dress up the day I proposed to her, I just told her my mom wanted a single nice picture of us, but even with a professional photographer...

I think I'm going to start a mother jar, basically you just throw whatever beans you have in alcohol and let it extract, then once it's good you just use the extract as needed for baking straight out of the jar and then add/remove beans and top off with more alcohol as needed

ooooooh! I've scraped the insides into a batch of whipped cream instead of using regular vanilla extract (it makes a very nice, strong vanilla bean whipped cream and you see the good good bean flecks in it) and a lot of people make vanilla paste with their extracted beans

all of these options should be open to more than two people and not contingent on romantic love

assets (and debt) would be completely separate so there would be no impact on taxes or benefits and divorce would often be a faster, cheaper process. then after that there's Marriage Ultra which has all of the legal, medical, tax, and financial benefits (and risks) that come with legal marriage now

my immediate family never really made them so I only ever got them at Christmas!

we do also legitimately love it, there's something to be said about purposefully setting up your home to be welcoming to others and I'm sure the fact that this is the first time in either of our lives that we've been in a position to do so has a lot to do with it

You can't just inform people about kerning like that.

You have to at least warn them that there's a thing you're going to teach them that, even though they never once noticed it before, is about to ruin their life.

we live close enough to NYC that it's a doable day trip so all of our out of state friends and family will use us as a home base to visit the city because two hours on the metro north is better than $300+/night for a hotel lol
