i don't think they should fire rhule, only because of his insane buyout. but i do think they should fire the person responsible for that huge buyout. just complete malpractice.

For the Giving Season, consider supporting @lukeoneil47.bsky.social with a paid subscription to his weekly newsletter at the link below. I was writing a reply to an account soliciting independent writers and media to support, but they deleted the post. So here it is now, instead of there.

Chihiro from SPIRITED AWAY is the most millennial-coded character in fiction:

- forced to beg in order to get worst job in the entire universe
- incompetent at work due to being coddled by pig boomer parents
- immediately starts dating her manager
- quits after two days to move back home

It’s really rubbing me the wrong way that tech companies want to call it “hoarding” that some people aren’t buying new devices. Not acquiring more stuff is the opposite of hoarding.

Banning street hockey in Canada?

This isn’t about protecting kids. It’s about protecting drivers from having to think about kids.
Get outside kids, enjoy the fresh air with your friends!
Just kidding, stay the F inside.

At this point, I wonder if he isn't lying when he says he has "my highest Poll Numbers, ever" since it's entirely possible that's what his aides are telling him. It's quite likely that there's an entire Potemkin village built around Trump right now.
Trump responds to a detailed report about his waning energy and propensity to sleep through on-camera events by calling the New York Times's Katie Rogers ugly

I'm becoming convinced Lyft has a basic conflict of interest managing ridehail as well as bikeshare in NYC, DC, Boston, Chicago, SF, etc.

The more expensive bikeshare is for visitors, the more likely they are to take ridehail instead (great for Lyft; bad for cities).

Seems like a problem!

there’s this constant mythology about the elusive centrist voter who isn’t represented by the media but whenever they use examples of people not represented by the media it’s always people like alan dershowitz who are still represented in the media and almost exclusively so!
Bari Weiss says she wants to use her new perch at CBS News to “redraw the lines of what falls in the 40 yards of acceptable debate” in American political and cultural life. She says the aim is to sideline voices like Hasan Piker, Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, and elevate “charismatic”...

i remember finishing a 10k, sucking air, and all the lights and inflatable finish archway was powered by a gas (maybe diesel?) generator. it was awful; loud, hot, pungent exhaust. really wish they had this instead.
Inbox: NYPA and Cornell are showing off this mobile battery unit, which could provide an alternative to diesel generators.

Looks a lot bigger than your standard generator but it also packs a lot of energy — enough to power a stadium concert, or an average NY home for about a week

A bad day for Canada, and therefore the world.

Ontario (population 16 million, 40% of the country) has passed new legislation prohibiting bike lanes that take a lane from cars.

An escalation from Bill 212, which required municipalities to get approval.
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

it's so cool that people who moved to the suburbs dictate how to design the cities that they fled. just got to ensure everyone is miserable and suffering from car dependency.
