🚨 Exciting Research Update! 🚨 We’re thrilled to announce the publication of an important and exciting study in Non-Coding RNA Research where BrigantLab was part ! 🎉 We reveal a strong link between uremic toxin levels and the microRNA miR-223 in chronic kidney disease (CKD)-associated anemia. We demonstrated that the uremic toxin indoxyl sulfate (IS) increases miR-223 expression in both human erythroid cell lines and primary cells. In a cohort of over 500 CKD patients, serum miR-223 levels correlated with IS and other uremic toxins, as well as with markers of endothelial dysfunction and anemia severity. 🧬 Why is this important?
