Finished The High Mire serial, a wee (or not so wee) dalliance in eco-weird fic by way of Lord Dunsany & Karen Russell et al. 8800 words = need to cut 1/4 to meet typical submission length. Darlings, meet axe! For now, the unexpurgated version.

This is a story I wrote last year, The High Mire, with tips of the hat to Lord Dunsany, Karen Russell, and Liz Williams. Putting it out as a serial over the holiday season.... about 16 pages in all.

Love this
The use of short lines and couplets does something very clever to the pace of this poem, and the metaphor of the bridge is wonderful.

'We've learnt that falling is inevitable'

'After Closing Time' by Mark Pajak, from 'Slide'

At bedtime lately, my sweetheart of an 8yo has started saying to me, “I hope you have a good writing night, Mommy.”

I can’t begin to express how much that means to me.💖

Great thread
When I worked on #TheOffice, Greg Daniels had a list of questions he asked of every story. Some were show-specific (eg “Are we saying something truthful if exaggerated about office life?”), but many are applicable to any script. Here’s a 🧵 on them…

Four of the Big Five Publishers Sign Letter Urging Congress to Restore IMLS
Shuttering IMLS would be "an act of monumental neglect, violating the very foundation of America and what it stands for as a country," the publishers assert.
