Yes! The best

I’m a sucker for YA about hot, rich, and / or famous people doing shady things—betrayal, revenge, secrets! Bonus points for SFF.

Also twisty murder mysteries with big casts—no idea how people write these books but I love to read them!

I’m always here for a high concept, but completely agree with others that execution of said concept is sometimes questionable 😬

I have a master outline for each book—it’s a giant Word doc made up of the chronological outline, ideas that were cut (in case I want to come back to them later), and a revision outline that I add to as I draft. I email it to myself A LOT in terror I’m somehow going to lose it 🤣

Hi! I’m Bridget and I write YA SFF. Writing plans for spring are (hopefully!) finishing draft 1 of my YA fantasy. General plans are to spend a lot more time outside with my 2 year old (and hopefully be done with all the winter illnesses 🤧)

It’s fun! Not quiteeee sure it lived up to the hype personally but hopefully it won’t be painful for you 🤣

Thank you! And yes haha I knew it was only a matter of time…

Reading one of my books out loud to my sister in installments 🥰and having her make character art of my characters!

For my current WIP it’s “Something Just Like This” and “Adventure of a Lifetime,” both by Coldplay

Definitely the beginning for me. I put a lot of pressure on myself to have a “perfect” opening scene (querying has scarred me 🤪)

Ooo good question. I think I have to be both wowed on a sentence structure level AND drawn into the world and the story. Not easy to do both!

Hi! I’m Bridget, I write YA SFF and my daughter is turning 2 on Friday 🥹I caved and I’m currently reading Fourth Wing 🤣

After reading your own work a million times they can definitely slip through the cracks 😆

Imagining scenes play out to music, for sure! Reading or watching great shows always sparks creativity too—I try to pay attention to what makes me “feel” the most and try to replicate that in my own work!

I try to sit down with a hot cup of tea. It’s like a signal for “me” time (or sometimes just to keep me awake!).

Hi! I’m Bridget, mom of an almost 2 year old and I write YA SFF. What intrigues me most is how tweaking or adding even the smallest detail can completely transform a story. Once I harnessed that energy (instead of fighting change) it’s made me really enjoy the revision process!

Naps are the best! Mine barely napped for the first 6+ months. Now I can usually get a glorious 2+ hours 😍

Yes! If I don’t write it down when I think of it, it’s likely gone 🤣

Hi all! I’m Bridget, mom of an almost 2 year old and I write YA SFF. Trying to finish the first draft of a YA fantasy but really just itching to dive into the rewrite!

I try not to do “life stuff” (cleaning, etc) when my daughter is asleep, aka prime writing time! But it’s so tough when sometimes that’s the only time you have 🤪

Hoping to query my new MS by fall of this year! Will need to dust off the rejection wine/chocolate 🎉
January 25, 2024 at 3:55 AM
By taking longer naps! (my daughter is almost 2 🤣)

I have a master outline that’s just an incredibly long word doc divided roughly by chapter. Whenever I get an idea, it goes in there, and I order it chronologically so I have it to go back to when I get stuck. I also keep a running list of things I want to tackle in the revision.
