I programmed this as a live event back in the day and it was awesome. Highly recommended.

Oscar Isaac is outstanding as the self centered and cruel Victor. Jacob Elordi gives an incredibly sympathetic portrayal of the Monster, the best part of a solid movie. It’s a little long in the tooth at times but it’s hard to not be impressed here. Highly recommended.

Bowie was a wholy unique artist and the perfect choice for Jareth. Highly recommended.

This absolutely cemented this subgenre for the better part of a decade. I’m more of a Deep Red fan but this is still awesome. Great stuff.

D’Amato produced hundreds of movies, helped most of the other prolific directors of his time and never stopped working. Joe’s films were sleazy, boundary pushing and wildly entertaining. I think he deserves to be included in the pantheon of great Italian directors. What a life.

I’m normally the first person shitting on a music biopic but this was absolutely great. Highly recommended.

Had they not tacked on an unnecessary epilogue this might have been a perfect film. I’m still very impressed with the performances, especially Odessa Young as the put upon single mother dating Springsteen during the time. Jeremy Allen White was even good enough to fool me on the songs.

I’m not sure this reaches quite the same heights as the original but I enjoyed nearly as much. I’m also glad to see these films being embraced so much by horror fans when it has zero elements of anything remotely scary. Pretty adorable.

The plot isn’t exactly original but the practical effects are quite good & it’s got that absurd entertainment factor present in a lot of Italian rip offs. I wonder if the director had a bet on how many pointless racketball sequences he could squeeze into 90 minutes. Dumb fun.

The plot feels straight out of a soap opera & lead Mark Soper is chewing as much scenery as he possibly can. If you feel like your Thanksgiving dinners are psychotic at least they probably don’t end with a family gun battle while threatening a baby. That’s not cranberry sauce!

A who’s who of indie horror filmmaking are aboard, including a posthumous role for beloved director Maddie Deering. It’s so fun.

I really liked Gladys as a villain when I first saw this but I’m starting to feel like she’s on the short list of truly awful all time baddies. Great fucking stuff.
