James Bond: Into the Bondiverse!

There's no magic wand you can wave and guarantee the security of anything stored online. Even large institutions regularly disclose breaches and leaks. Security is a cat-and-mouse game that's constantly evolving. It's never "over" or "solved."

Data protection is good. Data minimization is better.

The idea is that faulty policy that incentivizes or enshrines a method of compliance with inherent dangers you can never 100% mitigate leads to lots of businesses suddenly exposing users and themselves to a swath of all-new risks that weren’t previously in play.

Battlebit was a hoot. I still go back there from time to time.

My impressions of the BF6 beta were that it was a big improvement over the 2042 beta, but that it didn’t feel like it was about to unseat BF3 and 4. We’ll see what things look like on full release.

BC1 and 2 were incredible for their time. BC2’s destruction physics especially!

This year I got to combine both those interests by becoming a creator and launching my own channel on Twitch, an experiment in new media many of you graciously supported.

I’m immensely proud of my reporting at world-class newsrooms like CNN and The Washington Post, where I helped millions grasp how technology, and technology policy, can influence our daily lives. I care deeply about the future of journalism, and about the decisions that shape the internet.

Having spent the last decade covering dialogues on internet policy, I’m excited for the chance to be a part of one. The conversation unfolding now is urgent, nuanced, and vitally important to everyone who relies on the internet for knowledge. There’s no better time to jump in.

Both tech and media are in a season of disruption. In my new role, I’ll be thinking and communicating about Google’s involvement in some of these monumental changes, looking to build bridges and a better understanding of the shifts that are transforming the web.

On Lara Levin and Ned Adriance's team, I’ll apply more than a dozen years of journalism experience to help Google address novel, challenging questions about what AI means for news and the broader information ecosystem.
