In these times of rancour & division, it’s comforting to find things on which we can all agree: Kent County Council, for example, really does provide a perfect illustration of how well Reform would run the country. I agree with Nigel!

Private companies operating care services in just three regions of England made £250m profits in 3 years,

£87.7m of profits went to care providers owned by private equity controlled from tax havens.

Profits mean money buys less. Higher taxes for less service.

Say NO to privatisation.

I have been corrected in the number of appearances by #Farage in BBC QT. It is, so far, 38 not in the 80s!! Just seemed that way, somehow 🤔
With 38? appearances on BBC QT some boycott

That final point is absolutely crucial.
The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

🚨📉 Major new paper by Stanford professor Nick Bloom and coauthors.

They find Brexit has:

⬇️ Reduced UK GDP by 6-8%

⬇️ Reduced investment by 12-18%

⬇️ Reduced employment by 3-4%

⬇️ Reduced productivity by 3-4%

“A sustained campaign of anti-migrant rhetoric is fuelling a growing cesspool of racism, including against international and ethnic minority nursing staff, without whom our health and care system would simply cease to function.”

How disgraceful.

FWIW I think the BBC Board of Governors and Chair should be selected by an Independent panel which is what I hope will happen at Charter Renewal. But I don't want the Government to step in and weild a big stick now, that's what Dictators do, it's what Trump is trying to do.

Number of posts saying Starmer isn't doing enough to defend the BBC, very few saying what they want him to do other than defend one of our institutions. Should he address the nation, phone Trump and tell him to f*ck off? He's made a statement, that should be enough for now, no need to escalate yet.

Anyone know who's paying for Farage's weekly press events, it can't be cheap. They're basically weekly Party Political Broadcasts, he's running rings round the media who turn up every week and in some cases breathlessly report his every word.

Rupert Lowe has invited Wayne O'Rourke to parliament

O'Rourke pleaded guilty to stirring up race hatred, after calling for people to go on the streets, burn cars, to attack mosques + the "traitors" defending Muslims

“Is there a leadership challenge?” Ridge asked.
Labour’s Wes Streeting replied: “No, and I think whoever’s been briefing this has been watching too much Celebrity Traitors.”
It was the Guardian’s Crerar who started this shit-stirring BTW - farcical British journos chasing rumours again.

This Government has introduced free breakfast clubs, additional free childcare hours and increased the minimum wage, it'll be great news if they remove the 2 child cap but let's not pretend they've done nothing for the less well off.

I agree that the BBC should apologise to Trump for being misleading.

Right after Trump apologises for the 30,573 false or misleading claims he made during his first presidency, or for each of his current daily average of 21 new lies per.

Just asking for clarity:
So the #BBC is #biased?
Nigel #Farage has appeared on the BBC's Question Time program a total of 38 times as of his latest appearance. This makes him one of the most frequent guests on the show, often criticized for the number of times he appears!

#Farage says BBC has been institutionally biased for decades amid #Trump speech row!
Back in the news with another bandwagon?? Just asking.

This is indeed a paradox
Otherwise known as the Hunt Rayner Paradox.

Posh Tory bloke 'forgot to tell' the Parliamentary authorities that he just bought SEVEN flats to rent out and it's all hunky dory.

Working class Labour woman screws up the stamp duty for one flat and she's toast.

It’s as if they think we’ve all been in a coma for the last 15 years, rather than watching the Tories smash it all up in front of us.

Very good on our ‘let’s-not-bother-with-right-wing-racism-or-Farage’s-corruption-and-let’s-blame-Labour-for-everything’ media.
