Love getting constant logistics updates. Oh it’s almost been shipped? Cool. You handed it to the FedEx guy? Nice. It’ll be here on Wednesday? Fantastic. Actually Thursday? Great. This is for a sprinkler controller and it’s 17° outside. I might die before I even get to use it.

I tweeted like 15 years ago that Hulu was hiring for their UX team based on my experience as a user. They still need help. If you have even a passing interest in the field you can probably email jobs at hulu, hr at hulu, something like that.
is there a reason why every single paid streaming service UI has only gotten incredibly worse and less usable over time

one thing i love about college football is that you can locate the least consequential game of the day, between two schools you barely knew existed, and there will be grown men on television in the stands ready to kill themselves if it goes the wrong way

I’m glad I stopped umpiring when I did. Most of what I worked up to—NCAA Div III and smaller Div I—didn’t and likely won’t have replay. They had between zero and two cameras at any game. I worked non-conference Big10 at the end and would have worked into conf crews, where replay would come up.
Sports are at their most thrilling when you have to pause for 3-5 minutes after an exciting play while a bunch of lawyers debate whether the play counted before deciding it didn't.

As a budding “single issue voter whose issue is vengeance,” my negotiation starting point would be digging a tunnel under the prisons and they can go in there. ID badges????
eric swalwell said on msnow that a major goal of a dem majority after the midterms would be for ice masks to come off and badges to come out, this is insufficient

I'm glad this decision was made, but I'm not surprised. On any of the boards I was a part of 2012–2015, or through any of my involvement in the foundation before or after that, we would have reached the same conclusion. People are core to this community and the foundation knows this.
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

this is a rich text but my favorite part is that despite being presumably good at math, her husband is so illiterate that he cannot read a baby's report card
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

I log in to Aetna Negotiator Bot by OpenAI. It immediately tells me $7246/mo. Panicked, but in control of my own negotiation, I take a common tactic—I pause. Moments later it tells me $8732/mo. I close the window, but not before it set me up with a direct deposit that is 118% of my net paycheck.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

I’ve seen someone else post before about “becoming a single issue voter, and the issue is vengeance.” I think we’ll need some other things, but if you’re a future candidate, a plan for what to do with the bodies tells me your head is in the right place.
I have absolute raging hatred for these people, like nothing else in my 50+ years. If we get out of this, I don't just want justice, I want vengeance and a reckoning like the world has never seen.

I want retaliation so severe, no one will ever consider doing something like this for centuries.
