cant there only be one worst?

did you know Bik's 2016 paper about fraud is science did not get ethics approval?
November 17, 2025 at 11:16 AM
only problem is its been a problem for decades and nothing to do about it, check my 2014 paper, nothing has changed actually
November 12, 2025 at 10:55 AM
the crazy part is they say original authors are selling out the field for their own benefit meanwhile they get famous by selling the field out
November 4, 2025 at 2:35 PM
meanwhile the field they dedicated their lives to is falling apart...

of course, or maybe it is just my algorithm, but the main things that trend are almost always dumb and bad ideas - i almost feel like it is that fabled bad social media that people talk about where people get dumber and etc
November 4, 2025 at 1:40 PM
the ai takes here are so bad, actually so many of the takes i see here are bad like literally an echo chamber where the worst ideas are amplified
November 4, 2025 at 12:40 PM
i think the point is that most of them don't even know who they are blocking and it is a mechanism of control by those who create these block lists to control the narrative by not letting anyone they disagree with even be shown to their followers
November 4, 2025 at 12:39 PM
he is blaming that on the democrats
November 1, 2025 at 7:11 PM
yes i guess you dont need it for every conversation, just the sensitive ones
November 1, 2025 at 3:13 PM
if the ai gets a hold of your calls wont it know the code word?
November 1, 2025 at 2:57 PM
so students are not biased in what they say in terms of telling PIs what they want to hear? they are not wrong sometimes?
November 1, 2025 at 11:03 AM
i read it first as most adult don't know how to think either which i also agree with
November 1, 2025 at 10:12 AM
doesnt this describe basically all students and even most collaborators?
November 1, 2025 at 10:12 AM
yes maybe for kids it is different, they dont know not to let it think for them.

im waiting for the study about whether llm supported grants and papers are more likely to get funded / published - i saw one paper said researchers using llms pub more papers in higher impact journals
October 31, 2025 at 5:04 PM
how is reading llm output different from reading a textbook, except they can ask the llm for clarification or etc?

i agree about rewriting, but who is going to give students as much time and attention as a machine?

in my opinion llm better even than most phd readers because they skim and rush
October 31, 2025 at 5:03 PM
i dont see why people dont want to anthropomorphize - is there a fundamental difference in the way that brains and llms work? both are prediction machines and trying to guess what the reader wants to hear, trying to be useful etc
October 31, 2025 at 4:45 PM
i doubt anyone would seriously argue that we should let LLMs do the critical thinking for us - i think even for the most AI go getters it is more like let LLMs do the menial tasks to free people up for the better and more critical tasks
