Not to mention that through their actions on USAID, food that could’ve went to 3 million or more starving people around the world in places like Gaza, Ethiopia, and Niger, was left to rot inside warehouses. We had already paid for this food, so there was no cost savings argument for not providing it

Exactly. I don’t feel sorry for the people who voted for him and lose everything. They had access to the same information we did, but they reached a different conclusion. They probably thought he was talking about ending programs that benefit people of color, not “hard workin’ god fearin’ whites.”

Keep in mind that a large swath of these people will lecture you about upholding Christian values and believing in Jesus.

Or, another thought…we could maybe try diplomacy? You know…like we already did to great success under the JCPOA. I understand that’s hard though. It would require standing up to Bibi and Israel, which neither political party has shown much appetite for.

The best thing I’ve read all day said that if constitutional rights only apply to individuals or states that have sued for relief or to protect them, then you don’t have constitutional rights. What you have instead are privileges that can sometimes be secured for you by a lawyer.

I’m certainly not advocating for it. The consequences would be horrific and would set the precedent for southern states to start ignoring all previous rulings on civil rights, etc.
I’m simply wondering aloud.
Regardless, this day is a tragedy for the country.

At what point does the bias of the Supreme Court become so painfully clear that states, executives, or collections of individuals simply stop complying with its orders?

At least the Supreme Court chose to radically expand the power of the executive branch during a period of time when we have a thoughtful, measured, and responsible president.
Imagine how terrible this would be if we had someone notoriously vindictive and temperamental.

Exactly. It’s just like how white people as a whole weren’t condemned after Oklahoma City, but after 9/11 Muslims faced (and still face) significant backlash.

I never know what to make of these polls. On the one hand, a clear majority were opposed to the fascistic deployment of force against protesters that were in large part peaceful. On the other hand, that majority is not nearly clear enough. Are the 37% in support still reachable? I have my doubts…

It says a lot about the state of the country when only one candidate of one particular religion is being consistently asked these types of questions.
