But what if the esteemed legal opinion is enshrined in law by the Magna Carta ?
November 24, 2025 at 9:58 AM
Yup. That’s an unfolding issue.

Well there was an internal inquiry over it that found they had. Two senior execs resigned over it.

Although that being said there is now suggestions of skullduggery in the inquiry.

A national civil disobedience campaign is a logical next step here. Of course he’ll send the IRS after everyone. But they can’t build jails to hold everyone who refuses to file a W2.

The ‘moderate person quits UUP after finding out they are little different from the DUP’ thing is as old as I am. The UUP have never been moderate, they just spend more time trying to pretend that they are.

Well, that and trying to violently overturn an election

Isn’t jack still an alcoholic who hit his son (and wife ?) in the book ? I don’t think the the books portrayal is sympathetic

The fact that the Mormons were set up by a con man made Joseph Smith who wrote himself into an updated version of the bible should not pass without comment here

Yes, the centre right track - low taxes to maintain austerity.

Because Labour are already occupying that space.

Trump will probably simply preemptively pardon them all.

You’re saying “nothing happened” but you are unaware of the investigations that took place into his conduct around a highly controversial issue that came up during his ministry.
September 28, 2025 at 5:11 PM
It’s not true that nothing happened. Boris Johnson was investigating for his dodgy spending on flat renovation. He ultimately resigned for other dodgy business before it concluded.

You said she was hounded out of her job. You also said there was no public interest consideration in her resignation. Both of those claims are problematic.

The campaign against her was and is awful but she and the PM knew that her offence was too serious to wave away.

I think she was careless in her basic civic duty on management of her tax affairs. It’s appropriate that any government minister in that position resign.

Failing to declare is serious but not necessarily a resigning issue unless there was a financial gain. Starmer did not resign when this happened
September 28, 2025 at 3:55 PM
I don’t think a mistake is a resigning issue.

On the other hand, failing to secure proper tax advice after being expressly advised to do so is stretching the term “mistake” a tad

I think I would expect a senior lawyer to use conveyancing terms accurately, knowing what could be at stake.
September 28, 2025 at 3:43 PM
Isn’t it appropriate that ministers who break the ministerial code resign ?
September 28, 2025 at 3:39 PM
I’m not sure if you missed but Starmer is Prime Minister
September 28, 2025 at 3:24 PM
She could have refused to resign.
