Stress baked. The wolves descended within ten minutes of me putting this in the break room and there is just an empty platter and cake bones left. Buttermilk chocolate cake remains a favorite.

Weekend bakes: Pumpkin cinnamon rolls, pumpkin and sunflower seed bread, and fig and pistachio scones.

Eight cinnamon rolls arranged in a flower formation with seven of them encircling an eighth. They are yellow-orange turning to a brown on top with white icing in pools and threads over the top. A round of bread cut down the middle on a wooden board. The interior is studded with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. There is little aeration in the bread indicating insufficient rise, but the crust is a golden brown and is baked through. Square scones on a discolored metal baking tray. The scones are golden brown with bits of fig, cranberry, and candied pistachio visible through the surface. The eggwash has given them a crisp exterior.

Bread and scones. I worked a 9-5 in my kitchen yesterday for these but it was worth it.

Pie for coworkers that don’t deserve it, but I have had those blueberries sitting in my freezer all summer.
A blueberry pie. It has a golden brown lattice top with a section plaited in the back to use up left over dough. The lattice is uneven, but well browned with eggwash and sugar. The filling is a dark purple and seeps out and down the sides in a glossy pool around the sides. There are whole berries visible through the lattice.

My Lancer boss who pilots an Executioner. Her name is Obstenti and she fights as a one woman show during Pankration Mekani in 2 or more v 1’s against her fucked up hulk of a mech. The party beat her once, but she doesn’t stay down for long.

Spent hours and a dozen eggs making mexican flan for the work Cinco de Mayo potluck and everyone else brought bags of shredded cheese and boxed guac. They deserve me accidentally overbaking these things.
