Help us realize this neuromorphic future faster!
** Co-sign and invite AMD to the neuromorphic party: forms.gle/f8yGWt1cB8bU...
** Make a pledge to neuromorphic research: forms.gle/eNdqwDPWsC8F...

Today, May 27 is the deadline for both of the above.

YOUR 30 watt noggin flexin’ its might.
Ever an EXEMPLAR in speed-of-light.
Ladders to the moon in hindsight went NOWHERE
It was BRAIN-like chips that landed us there.

Dally’s FOLLY is now history.
In contrast to Intel and AMD.
STARTUPS too, round the field out
Of HYBRID AIs - without a doubt!

Team Caltech or MIT?
What a FALSE dichotomy!
Team WORLD was where it’s at,
Progress needed many a hat.

In other words:
Plasticity rules like Oja's let us go beyond studying how synaptic plasticity in the brain can _match_ the performance of backprop.

Now, we can study how synaptic plasticity can _beat_ backprop in challenging, but realistic learning scenarios.

Anyone else interested in academic funding drives that lean into tribalism as a tool for good (and wallet opening)?

What other strategies are people taking to help our academic friends in need?

One thing I’m trying is the #NeuromorphicRivalryFund which will pit different schools and programs against each other on a specific funding topic, but it would be nice if there was a network of such efforts that could gather more attention together.

How should America heal its own academic wounds more than China will?

Research ultimately benefits the world, but funding sources get to peek into the future a little farther and bias academic freedom in their favor. A slight edge in an exponential growth curve separates the winners and losers.
