I did planetarium shows before laser pointers. I used a lens-focusing 6-volt pointer pistol which had a thick cable plugged directly into a Spitz A2 console, complete with vacuum tubes, a 60Hz hum and a faint aroma of ozone. 🔭

About 100 Spitz A2 planetarium projectors were made in 1958 and 1959. This is number 27. I presented with it for 9 yrs. The stars would sometimes blink a few times and go out, but I knew where to slap it and how hard. I bought it at auction and it's now in the Big Bear Lake Planetarium Museum. 🔭
