Just watched "A House of Dynamite". Interesting but implausible scenario of a "bolt from the blue" with no warning. There would most likely be a political crisis before any attack, but the movie correctly shows the insanity of the short timeline involved. Worth watching all the same.

Am I crazy to worry that SCOTUS might hit the VRA in June 2026 and Republicans will demand that the 2026 midterm elections be postponed until congressional districts are redrawn and they pick up 19 more seats? Would SCOTUS go along with that? Is that when democracy will die?

I always pay close attention to whatever Tom Friedman says but this essay was especially disappointing. He never noted that the Israel has rejected the two state solution and is making sure it will never happen. And Trump is not focused on the Mideast, he is focused on the enemy within.

I'm sorry but this is NOT a First Amendment case. No one is saying that this individual can't express her opinion on conversion therapy, only that she can't claim it is accepted medical therapy when acting as a licensed medical practitioner.

This is very dangerous. Trump wants to take over higher education so there is no opposition. If the government can reward speech it likes, it can also punish speech it doesn't like. That will end First Amendment protection.
