Indie Cinema (Luxe Wisbech) manager with a beard and glasses - really helping beat the stereotypes. I love films, like photography and I own an unreasonable amount of tee shirts with female directors/creators emblazoned upon them.
253 down - 12 to go!

At the beginning of the year I decided to watch EVERY film featured in The Great Book of Movie Monsters.

This week I shall be finishing that challenge.

The final film shall be The Mole People as it’s the cover title for the book, so it felt appropriate to watch that one last.

Pass secured for Autumn Screening Days + Audience Dev Day. The highlight of my film year, and whilst I’ll be flying this one solo for the first time in almost five years, I’m still super excited to catch up with familiar faces and meet new ones too! And the added bonus of being at the Phoenix again!

As part of my (almost finished!!) Monster Movies challenge I watched Burn Witch Burn/Night of the Eagle for the first time and BOY is it a good ‘un!

Revisiting an old favourite this week, thanks to the excellent Network release on Blu (including retro tv ad breaks ❤️). Just super.

Yesterday evening I popped my ‘Indie Cinema Manager’ hat on and went along to the excellent South Holland Centre to watch 15.And.Killing.It (or at least the existing two episodes). It’s been put together by the Holbeach Film Company - not letting budget restraints temper their creativity.

In other news, this memory popped up of the EGX Fringe love show with the MGP folks. Was my first proper one without any alcohol in play. Was VERY worried about not being able to perform but by the end of it audience members had sat on my knee, I’d blagged free water and mocked a Pokemon story.

Finally catching up on watching Slow Horses. Why did no-one tell me that Jack Lowden was so fast!? Like a blonde Sonic the Hedgehog if this edit is to be believed.

I’ve been continuing with my year-long project of watching all 265 movies featured in the Great Book of Movie Monsters. This are the most recent watches - many for the very first time.

It’s going to be a VERY tough slog to actually source EVERY movie, but I’m working on it.

There are precious few films that have me imploring a character OUT LOUD to do the thing that will make them happy.

Chuck Chuck Baby is one such film, both heart-warming and heart-breaking in equal measure.

Had the double pleasure last night of screening Black Christmas alongside an informative and entertaining presentation from my friend Emily on the subject of Holiday Horror.

Made some Yorkshire pudding batter this week. Have been banging on about how good I am at it and - in all honesty - this was a sub-par effort…

That cracking feeling of seeing yourself in a great photo - walking like you’ve never walked down steps before and are about to stack it.

I saw this bell in an antiques and collectibles shop in Nottingham last week and it gave me *quite* the flashback to the birthday that saw me expecting a PSP and being gifted this monstrosity instead.

“You love the Titanic, don’t you!?”

Real mixed bag of movies today…

The Abominable Snowman (1957)

High Spirits (1988)

Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II (1993)

The 4:30 Movie (2024)

Nothing lower than a three star rating!

Plus the bonus of ticking another movie off of my Hammer at 90 and Godzilla 70 lists!

In other news - I should not be allowed to order things online. This week I bought a sausage related gossip magazine from the Sooty store. I’ll fight to my last breath on the hill that Sweep is a comedic legend and this joke mag absolutely cements it.

Taking a break from Hammer Horror titles and docs by dipping into some Joshua Oppenheimer shorts. To think I watched Hot Frosty earlier… no one can EVER label my viewing. Unless they try eclectic. Which would probably do.

Have been revisiting Hammer Horror films to celebrate their anniversary and thus far am having a blast. What I wasn’t prepared for was learning that two of my favourite writers were married to each other! Judith (Mog/Tiger Who Came to Tea) and Nigel (Quatermass/Stone Tapes) Kneale! 🤯

After a weekend watching some of the biggest indie films coming to cinemas in 2025, I settled down this afternoon to watch Hot Frosty, which was every bit as silly and harmless as I expected. There’s a difference between a crap Christmas movie and films like Hot Frosty.

Easy to forget how great this film looks… #Godzilla

For now - I’m sat at home, waiting for some chips to cook and watching Godzilla vs Biollante, which has one of the most beautiful movie posters of all time…

Back home from Nottingham - have seen The Brutalist, A Real Pain, Nickel Boys, Saturday Night, September 5 & We Live in Time. I’ve eaten well. I’ve been inspired by amazing people in the U.K. film exhibition sector (commercial and film society/festivals) and got soaked in the rain. Just GREAT!
