Something tells me I may have oversized my wreath a little too much this year… 😄

Thanks #StormDarragh we had been doing so well keeping the cover (and furniture) in place. We’re not playing anymore though and all this (thankfully undamaged) is taking refuge in the garage.

Have made a Christmas wreath and hung it in the garage ahead of this weekend’s forecast bad weather

Goodness, Nottingham was crazy busy last night - we stopped for an early dinner at Browns before a show at the theatre, both were worth enduring the many, many roadworks!

Things I never expected from village life: a folded table tennis table being wheeled through the village 🏓

A frosty, foggy morning in Newark - but also with clear blue skies and a glorious wintry sun.

Meet Louise of Prussia. Politician, diplomat and beloved queen and wife. Rode into battle while pregnant. One of my heroes.

Famously described by Napoleon famously as "the only real man in Prussia"

Gonna ask you to think a bit about that in a sec, but first you need to know about her life. /1 🧵

The £1-chilli-plant-from-the-next-village which I brought indoors for winter (as no greenhouse yet) has rewarded its stay in the utility room with red chillies 🌶️

Popped to Melton Mowbray today and stocked up on essentials 🥧

It really was a glorious day out there, though the wind made it feel much chillier than the forecast 8 degrees.

Pleased to have completed the embroidery on this last night, but it’s still too grim to get a decent picture <sigh>

How beautiful is the tiled hall (now a cafe) in Leeds?

It was originally the main library reading room, and from 1888-1941 it housed sculptures. The Victorian hall was renovated in 2007 with help from English Heritage, and revealed the original fabric of the room.

A great place for a coffee!

Have been in Leeds for an overnight trip, loved the city and am sure we’ll be back. Today was spent culturally and enjoyed the temporary exhibition at the Leeds City Museum “Living with Death” which explores death, dying and bereavement.

It’s another wondrous cold weather day, spotted this perfect ‘snowflake’ ice crystal on the outside of our window this morning.

A snowy day sunset - and a neighbour’s early Christmas lights!

Turning this on…
It has to be at the time. But if you go to Settings, then Accessibility, there is an option of requiring to add Alt text before you post.

This feature means that you cannot post before alt text is added.

Isn't that brilliant! Loving Bluesky.

Loving that slice of sunshine on the garden this morning, and the shadows on the wall

There’s a pretty sky this morning, with more white stuff predicted to fall.

Here’s hoping this is a more successful attempt to cover our garden furniture. Last time we tried - just before strong winds - it didn’t last the evening before taking two chairs with it (despite being strapped down). This time we’ve added two webbed straps hopefully stopping a billowing mushroom 🤞

It’s glass recycling bin day tomorrow, today there’s been the sound of glass on glass throughout the village as bins are filled & moved into position ahead of their pre-Christmas emptying... that’s one bin collection you don’t want to miss!

A first post and #ProofOfCat though sadly #NotMyCat - he lives close by and clearly fancied a nosey in our new house.
