Today is Indigenous Peoples Day! I live on the ancestral land of the Monacan Nation, which is currently headquartered on Bear Mountain in Amherst County :) Here's the website for their museum which has the donation link for their cultural foundation!

I love the energy but I do wonder how this will actually disrupt Home Depot as a corporate entity instead of just creating a lot of hassle for the individual employees
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

I'll say it: turkey is delicious and its actually kind of odd that Americans don't eat it more often, esp considering it was and remains a vital part of many indigenous cuisines

KEEP SHARING YOUR STORIES about increased ACA premiums due to the disappearance of subsidies. The stories clearly are having an impact, they help people feel less helpless, and they create solidarity that leads to action.

Mine went from $395→ $821. What happened for you?

Here's what I wish people understood: Trump supporters in poorer areas are generally the wealthy people in those areas -- the people who have kept their neighbors poor.
The tribune of the poor, the downtrodden? Studies clearly indicate that Trump’s most ardent supporters, especially in poorer areas, are, by local standards, quite wealthy / financially stable. Economic anxieties are mostly downstream from anxieties over racial and cultural status.

Oh my gosh I learned about Ramadan from an episode of the Proud Family and I remember I was so interested I spent the rest of the night on our family's computer reading about Islam, and I'm convinced this is genuinely a reason why even baby me thought Islamophobes were stupid
Reminds me of the time I went to a friend’s aunt’s house to celebrate Passover with her family, and when they asked if I knew the story of Passover, I recounted it for them. They asked how I knew so much about it, and I was honest. “Nickelodeon ran a Rugrats Passover episode every year.”
