Today marks the UK release* of @tkingfisher.com's latest book Snake-Eater, which (depending on how you define it) is her 50th book of fiction! In honor of this milestone I wanted to do a little retrospective of her 50 books

I can’t bring myself to read Bury Me In The Midnight Soil at any decent pace and I can’t put my finger on it. It is at times unique, it’s clearly queer, but it drags. I think because I often find vampire fiction tiresome. Not the book’s fault, probably mine.

The frustrating post of this is the lack of discernment between nearly decade old machine learning algorithms often home brewed by a company to do a job a human cannot, and the rise of generative AI and large language models that have much worse accuracy.

Litigation as intimidation and continuation of abuse. Sexual predation is always wrong -- there's no carve-out for tolerating violent men simply because we value their art.

(Or if we agree with their political ideology/voting record, as I discussed last week re Al Franken abusing *8* accusers.)

He proposes releasing some ICE prisoners to labor on farms where the employers will “own them” and be responsible for them.

Historians have spent decades meticulously proving the straight line between slavery and modern capitalism’s concept of the laborer—or we could just let them say it.
The camp is to filter out workers for Trumps new Slavery policy where he sells them to businesses.
He says so in this video

“Children will go hungry. And they don’t have to."

Meals-to-You sends boxes with five days’ worth of meals directly to low-income households during the summer, when kids didn’t have access to free lunch. Then DOGE swept in, and everything came to a halt.
One of the Most Effective Programs to Reduce Child Hunger Is Caught in DOGE Limbo
Jeremy Everett, who piloted the initiative at Baylor University, is working hard to make sure kids get fed this summer. The clock is ticking.

Cloture has met the 60 votes to pass in the senate with the help of at least 9 Democrats: Schumer, Fetterman, Hassan, Cortez Masto, Durbin, Gillibrand, Shaheen, Schatz, and Peters.

They sold out our country to Trump and Elon. They're traitors to democracy.

Tesla just plummeted nearly 12% in a day! Looks like people are finally waking up to Elon’s false promises and how he cares more about politics than making good products. I still say $25 is a realistic valuation, so we have a long way to go from the 129 P/E this morning.

We've been, correctly, beating them up for not doing anything. Today they did something and they deserve credit. Nice job, Dems. More, please.
1. Today, Senate Democrats showed spine, and killed a national transgender sports ban bill via filibuster.

Not a SINGLE Democrat voted for cloture.

S. Baum writes about what happened today, including some of the speeches.
