Have you seen this?

It looks to be peak Virginia Bluebell season! Here are a few pics of the ones in my front yard. It’s wonderful to have something that will put on such a show in a spot that gets so little sun, even if it lasts only a short time!

Here’s my little Primulina ‘Hisako’, I love its leaves, but wish it would flower! Any advice?

Yes! Chris Van Hollen is now showing his mettle. We’re at a dramatic moment.

We were at the courthouse where Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s abduction is being questioned. There was a good strong crowd, and we kept up chants and singing in a gusty wind for two hours. Glad I could be there as we took a stand while history is unfolding here, in my backyard.

If this doesn’t turn millions of Americans against Trump…. Just wait for the next steps!

This is one of my hardy, home-grown mums that I brought inside — not a florist mum! The cheerfulness of their blooms is amazing to behold whenever I visit my plant room. The buds just started opening a few days ago.

“A new era of wickedness has begun” says German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

Thank you! Tell it! Glad someone is describing things just as they are.

“Our horror is greater today than before.”

Yes! Every day now.

Of course you should ask!! I’m very glad if I can help.
I was gonna say, back in the day we had Permaculture One and we were happy! Then later I acquired this tome, but have not given it the study it deserves!

Thanks for this, Mark, and for linking to this beautiful statement from Walter Dellinger in 1995.

My brother (who keeps saying that he’s about to check out Bluesky! 😄) posted some great old family photos for me on another platform. I especially like this, showing us with our maternal granddad, Calvin Bryce Hoover — a wonderful picture of him, quite a contrast with the official public portraits.

Should I disclose that it’s my #birthday? 😉☺️

I have a lot of challenges to deal with, but I hope this year I’ll be able to achieve at least a few things that I’ll be able to look back on and feel good about — that show I haven’t wasted the precious gift of life. Encouragement welcome.

I’d better post something more cheerful! Answering the prompt to post the oldest person in your family tree who you have a photo of, I shared this pic of Margaret “Maggie” Watt Sprole, 1836-1911. When the photo was taken in 1903, apparently she was only about as old as I am now! Hard to believe!

Well, at first I thought you meant the earliest birthdate. I think Margaret Watt here would be certainly one of the earliest, and possibly the oldest as well. She was born in 1836 and this was taken about 1903. But somewhere I have photos of her son John Nelson Sprole taken in 1966, when he was 99.

Though the extensionists I asked thought it must be self-seeding, I’m wondering if this kind of mum could be prone to bud sports, mutations in the body of the plant which can cause different colors and shapes to appear. Often diverse colors seem to be coming from the same root. #Gardening #Plants

This is my little Pericón plant, Tagetes lucida, from Mexico and Central America. It doesn’t taste or smell anything like its relatives in the marigold family; it’s sweet, mild and tarragon-like, good for making tea. It only flowers at the very end of our season here in zone 7.

I was delighted to see that this snapdragon unexpectedly popped up after weeks of abnormally warm fall weather, and the chilly nights since then haven’t deterred it.

Yes! But fortunately it doesn’t spread aggressively by runners like peppermint. It’s easy to get rid of if it’s in the way.
I just found this good description.
