I really like hand placing a lot of points! It lets me be a lot more particular about where they are, and alignment.
Also because it helped me with the same sorta thing recently, if you have two vertices selected and press F it will attempt to make a new face! Doesn't work all the time though lol

Hey #gamdev! Every once in a while looking through old projects I come across this one I was working on. It didn't get far but I still think it was kind'a neat!
