good god. i wish i was joking but i started trying and then gave up here. this is why i need to steal art skills
an abstract tragedy of a fort. brown lines with amorphous fuzzy edges intersect to create a rudimentary house outline wherein the base of the roof and the ground both extend in either direction on the x axis further than they should, as though the artist remembered a blanket fort might need something to rest on but realized quickly there was simply no way for their lack of artistic skill to meet the challenge of drawing recognizable couch arms. at the bottom of the image there is text in a basic sans serif font that reads "my fort"

We'll miss you, obviously, but we're excited to have you back. I've been, ah—" here he sounds almost bashful— "writing some lyrics lately about hoping that when something ends it isn't forever. And you're reminding me that sometimes a break can make things stronger. So you go be with your family, and refill your cup, and we'll be here when you come back." Applause, and then: "Well, not here, exactly. I think we'll be in Australia or something when you return. But you know what I mean. The point is that even when home is a moving target there's always a place to come back to." Awful, thinks Hyunjin, vision blurring dangerously. How awful to be in love with someone who always seems to have the right words.

They spill hot down his cheeks, faster than he anticipated. His face muscles twitch, starting to twist up into that humiliating, childish grimace. “I just thought, with the tour and everything, we shouldn’t be distracted by our relationship.” “So you’d rather be processing a breakup while you’re away from home for three more months?” “I don’t know.” Seungmin sighs and leans forward. He doesn’t grab Hyunjin’s hand; Hyunjin wonders, with a vague wrench in his chest, if they’re finally too old for that.

Jeongyeon finds her polishing steel on her knees in the hanok. She waves away her personal guard and waits for the door to slide closed, rice paper fluttering in the light breeze and announcing Jeongyeon’s presence before she can do it herself. Jihyo glances up, teeth flashing white against her golden skin as she smiles. “I didn’t think you’d come so soon.” No one ever thinks much of Jeongyeon, despite or perhaps because of her high standing, but Jihyo makes it sound like a pleasure to have been wrong. “Everything is in place,” Jeongyeon tells her simply. “I was waiting on your word.” 
“And you have it.” Jihyo’s smile sharpens. In her lap, the sword catches the light. “Then it will be done.”

His mouth trembles where it’s twisted into a grimace. Whatever is in this drink, Dorian is unlikely to enjoy it, but Orym’s out all night and Dorian is nothing if not a people pleaser. “One sip,” he cautions, and resignedly lets Fearne pour the entire foul-tasting drink down his throat. Immediately, buzzing warmth lights up his insides. Well, he thinks, tonight will certainly make for an interesting story.

If Minho knew how to make it better, he would—it’s the thing he’s always been good at, taking Jisung’s ragged edges and smoothing them over—but now it’s the both of them in freefall and Minho doesn’t know up from down. “It just doesn’t make sense,” he hears himself say, words landing flat in the air between them. “We can still get the deposit back. And with my parents— and you probably need to stay here— “I get it,” Jisung manages. It’s small. Meek. “We can’t live together. It was stupid anyway.” If Minho could find the voice to refute it he would. As it is, he’s tumbling feet over head, hurtling toward some awful new ground, and he doesn’t want to know what will happen when he hits the bottom.

Another match lost means Felix will likely need to stay at Chris’ again rather than go apartment hunting like he hoped he’d be able to this weekend. Guiltily, Felix realizes that that’s not even the part that smarts—instead, it’s the fact that Chris is going to see him with a shiner, earned in the last round because Felix still hasn’t quite mastered the timing on ducking. If everyone was playing by the same rules this might be different (he has the martial arts medals to prove it) but the ring has not been kind to Felix. Still, his heart blooms with warmth when Chris muscles his way through the crowd to finally make his way to Felix’s side. “Oh, mate,” Chris says, “that looks like it hurts. But I bet I should see the other guy, right?” Felix, despite himself, laughs. The other guy got off with a couple kicks to the shin. Chris squints. “Nah, honestly, you’re pulling it off. Bet you’re even more beautiful this way.” Felix’s head spins. Beautiful. Not the first time Chris has called him that, nor the last, but maybe that’s just how sponsors talk about their fighters. Maybe Chris has a fetish for losing: he’s certainly lost enough on Felix over the last two months. Or maybe… But there’s no use being wishful. Felix shuts his eyes as Chris swipes a thumb against the delicate, bruised skin. “Beautiful,” Chris says again, and Felix pretends, just for a moment, that it’s real.

“I know it’s short,” Jeonghan says, breezy, kicking his shoes off and promptly insinuating himself into Seungcheol’s living room, “and dark, and surprising. ‘Wah, Han-ah, I didn’t know you were getting it cut like that.’” Seungcheol blinks at the poor impression. “Is that supposed to be me?” “I’m getting us through the small talk so we can move on to the real stuff,” Jeonghan says. His eyes spark, that lazy, mischievous glint that Seungcheol can’t help but associate with the dive off a tall cliff: dizzying, exhilarating, frightening. “The real stuff,” he echoes. Jeonghan laughs, shifting so he can pull Seungcheol down to crouch over him. Like this, their mouths are just a breath apart, Seungcheol’s arms braced on either side of Jeonghan’s newly short hair. “Come here,” Jeonghan says, and Seungcheol is helpless to resist.

He can’t just tell me I’m like the opening lyrics to his favorite song and then pretend it never happened and call me bro. I need him to regret it.” Felix’s mouth parts into a little ‘o’. “Oh, it’s worse than I thought. You have a crush.” Hyunjin, of course, denies it, but it’s too late—he’s shown his hand, and the only thing to do next is to play it.
