On this date in history, Jan. 20, 1981, Iran released 52 Americans it had held hostage for 444 days. I took these images from along Pennsylvania Ave in DC covering the parade of buses carrying the hostages while in the Navy as a photojournalist.

On this day in 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, AL. The incident cemented her legacy as a symbol of the American civil rights movement. I took this picture of her while covering a NAACP event in Baltimore where she was the guest of honor.

One week out. Time for these guys to get real nervous.
