every author in the class action, please file the claim.
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Last night, on the eve of SNAP funds expiring, there was a Gatsby-themed party at Mar-a-Lago. The tagline was “A little party never killed anybody.” Aside from the “let them eat cake” fuck you of this, DID NOBODY READ EVEN THE CLIFF NOTES OF THE GREAT GATSBY???

One thing the AWS outage should show is that these companies are far more embedded at the institutional level than people think and that’s precisely why students were asking their universities to disinvest rather than pushing individual boycotts.

Nothing to see here, just pumping my fist in the air while driving and hearing @notquitehydepark.bsky.social draw the line that connects X-Men and George Eliot on @josie.zone and @tallgirlpetunia.bsky.social's fantastic podcast.

It’s not like I actually worked w any of the folks on Dragon Day, but it still feels like a win for the team whenever someone from that cast does something cool.

repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

CEOs used to make like 20x the average worker.
In 2024, the average CEO earned 632x more.

The system is rigged.
