It's great that reporting on the double tap has spotlighted the abject criminality of this Administration.

But don't forget: Venezuela is not waging war on America or Americans, and the men killed were not combatants.

The first strike was every bit as illegal as the second.

Rose Byrne plays a therapist overwhelmed by having to deal with her own problems while still treating her patients. Byrne is sure to get nominated for some awards, even if the film itself comes up a little short. My review is on letterboxd.

A ★★★½ review of If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025)

One more for today. This one is a French-language suspense film flavored with black humor and gay themes. Another really good one that you probably haven't heard of. Here's my full review.

A ★★★★ review of Misericordia (2024)
This is a great little black comedy/suspense film from writer/director Alain Guiraudie (2013's 'Stranger by the Lake'). Jérémie (Félix Kysyl) is a gay man who returns to the small village where he lea...

For the arthouse and weird movie fans who follow me, let me strongly recommend 'Universal Language'. It's about an alternate version of Winnipeg that is largely populated by Iranians, and where such things as a "Kleenex repository" exist. My review: letterboxd.com/bobnoxious23...
A ★★★★★ review of Universal Language (2024)
This belongs to one of my favorite subgenres, which I'll call "matter of fact surrealism" for lack of a better term. Think Luis Bunuel's films like 'Phantom of Liberty' or 'The Discreet Charm of the B...

Just stop it, Ethan. Seriously. Stop it. This detour into making a trilogy of "lesbian b movies" co-written with your wife Tricia Cooke might have sounded like a good idea. But the celluloid reality o...

Tonight's watch was the new version of 'Frankenstein' from Guillermo del Toro. I found it good, but not as good as I had hoped and expected.

letterboxd.com/bobnoxious23...

Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' is a good movie that should have been a great one. Certainly many in the cast deliver performances of the sort that tend to get awards nominations. And for most of ...

'Sorry, Baby' is sort of a "dramady", but just as a warning, it does deal with the very serious topic of sexual assault. Director Eva Victor threads the needle perfectly with this one, but I get it if some folks don't want to watch it. Here's my full review:

letterboxd.com/bobnoxious23...
A ★★★★★ review of Sorry, Baby (2025)
It's not easy to make a film that deals with sexual assault and have it still be fairly humorous without being misogynistic or at least tasteless. So major kudos to writer/director/star Eva Victor. It...
