Had a great time at the LA premiere of the indie film American Solitaire (my wife did the costumes!) It's a lovely film about a veteran wrestling with America's complicated relationship with guns. Hopefully it'll be at a film festival near you SOON!

After years of trying (and mostly failing) to write more short stories, I stumbled on DeadlinesForWriters.com and decided to try their 12 stories in 12 months challenge. And I did it! I'm a sucker for a prompt and a good old-fashioned deadline and this totally worked for me. Give it a try!

Just finished When We Were Real by @darylwriterguy.bsky.social. I loved this so much. It's warm, funny, and emotional. Bursting with amazing sci-fi ideas but always keeps its humanity front and center. It's one of those rare books that I can't wait to read again.

Really enjoyed this collection of dark tales from @christinogle.bsky.social!

I love Vulture's daily Cinematrix game and it's especially fun when I get to use a movie I've written. First time for CLASSIFIED! Bonus points for sharing a lane with @johnrogers.bsky.social!

The exec we're working with encouraged us to try and "one up" each other in thinking up scary ideas. Here's @benrock.com bringing his A-game.

Spent a solid few days with @benrock.com putting cards on the board for our scary new audio show. May I introduce our secret weapon, Sophie, the best writer's assistant in town? #SheHasNoSkills #WhoCares #ILoveHer

Today it begins with two blank 36 x 24 cork boards. @benrock.com & I are gonna write some scary stuff on cards, put them on the boards, write a script, and if our studio likes it, we'll make an audio show. It feels good to be back home again, making stuff with one of my best friends.

If anyone's putting together a "cute kittens who journal" calendar, we call dibs on July.

Chatting with @jasonoliveri.bsky.social at a party and he mentions indie animation. I ask if he's into Don Hertzfeltd. He casually pulls up his sleeve to reveal a tattoo from Billy's Balloon - Don's short that I helped program at the Florida Film Fest in '99. As fandom goes, it was a perfect moment.

What actor’s expression in a movie will stay with you for the rest of your life?

"Describe a favorite movie in the most misleading way possible."

A bumbling waitress gets caught in a triangle between a shy loner who secretly loves her and a relentless alpha-male who will stop at nothing to possess her.

Former Orlando film nerds unite! Had a blast at the MILLERS CROSSING screening last night with the epic Gabriel Byrne sharing some amazing stories afterwards. Thank you

I love when I get to use a movie I wrote for the @vulture.com Cinematrix game (yesterday's game so not a spoiler).

I love seeing pix of Brendan & Sarah together. The first is from the Air I Breathe afterparty, the second one is from Sarah's IG. I love that they're still friends and working together. What a pair!

Great time today at the LA Times Festival of Books, nerding out with my friend @ndbrandt.bsky.social. We saw panels with tons of amazing writers, said hi to a few, got plenty inspired to make stuff. Yay book nerds!

This movie is astonishing. A fierce, unapologetic cry to make art no matter how crappy the business is or how awful the world is. No matter what, never stop making art.

Taking a short break. If things get tough(er), here's a one-eyed kitten slowly falling asleep while nestled in my armpit. He can't save the world with his cuteness, but wouldn't it be great if he could?

This year instead of nerding out at Wonder Con, I decided to try a different nerd fest - the giant AWP writers conference in downtown LA! Some writer friends and I made a day of it. Great panels, tons of small presses, books and writers all over the place. It was super fun! #awp2025

Got to see the total crowd-pleaser "Bob Trevino Likes It" last night with @neptunesalad.bsky.social. Our friend French Stewart plays an epic jerk and we had to see it to believe it. See it on the big screen and get ready to cry your face off!

A nice bonus from my Dark Delicacies visit today was grabbing a SIGNED copy of this one from
@mattfnwallace.bsky.social! We've been social media friends for a while, never met IRL, but he signed this book nearly 8 years ago and it waited patiently for me to come get it. Thanks Matt!

Had a great time with @neptunesalad.bsky.social visiting the epic @darkdel.bsky.social one last time before they close. Del and Sue held space for all the horror lovers for 30 years. Stop in before they close in early April and get some of that scary goodness in your life!

It appears the new season of Top Chef is simply going to reinforce how great Canada is and that we should stop f-ing with them and just be grateful there's a beautiful, kind country on our border.

We're taking care of a friend's plant while she's living elsewhere so my wife set it up like this in the bathroom and this means, since I've seen the horror movie THE RUINS, I will no longer be able to use this bathroom.
