Sampling season started today for our Riverwatch volunteers. They're collecting baseline water data - temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity - so we can add to our ongoing understanding of water quality in the region. Learn more about this program below.

GOOD NEWS FROM D.C. - The U.S. Senate reintroduced a bipartisan bill to reauthorize Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) for another 5 years. It has proven to be successful legislation and a source of funding for protecting water quality, habitat, ecosystems and waterfront communities.

ADVOCACY ALERT: There is growing concern that efforts are underway this week to potentially weaken and dismantle the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and in turn, this would greatly impact efforts to protect our Great Lakes. (1/7)

Volunteers went to Jayne Park on Cayuga Island to help us plant nearly 200 shrubs and trees for this shoreline protection project. Such great help from our supporters to make long-term improvements for the health of the Niagara River. Thanks again to all!

Spring Sweep registration is open! Spots are limited at each of the 35+ sites so sign up early with friends and family to secure spots. Besides keeping our communities and waterways clean, it's a big day to collect lots of litter data to help in our advocacy efforts.

It's Skip the Straw day! The goal is to not use one, or find an environmentally friendly alternative. During Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, volunteers collected nearly 14 million straws and stirrers over 35 years. Learn more at the link.

We were in Albany with partners from across NY to advocate for better regulations of PFAS in our drinking water.

The PFAS Free NY coalition supports bills that focus on testing and eliminating PFAS found in consumer products.
