So like, you know the story of narcissus? (The word narcissist is named after him) Who was always looking at his reflection In water..

Can you do that? I don't think so. If you look down at a lake, light rays from your face don't reflect. So you almost always see through to the lake bottom.

#1 best vase from this batch

I glazed this when @jocelynread.bsky.social was visiting. It's big and round, and the tallest vase I've thrown.

Shiny creamy white glaze, with a diagonal line of dark green/black. The black has a straight line carved through it , reminding one of a hole into a hill.

Best vase countdown #2:
This vase is wild. A dark brown matte background and a shiny blue glaze begins in a ring and flows down over the bump of the vase.

This vase is very pleasing in person in spite of how you would not expect the colours work. I'll give it to one of my favourite cousins.

The best vases countdown: #3
This is a brown vase which slowly gets wider as you go up, then draws in. The mouth is a vertical lip.

This tenmoku glaze is the first I blended myself. It is not the same recipe as I hoped, but the brown is warm and has a depth to it.

Smaller, but well proportioned.

Here are the best vases!
#4
It's about four apples tall, and wide enough to stick your fist into.a

This one has a green glaze floating over a light blue glaze.

Drawbacks: proportions are off. Rim is too thin (and a little flappy)

Strengths: 2nd biggest vase finished, and pretty colours.

Vases!

Here are four more!
Two are blue, two are brown/black

Each is about two apples tall, depending on the size of the apples.

Gen 5 VASES!

With gen 6 I am starting to throw at around the heights for normal vases.

Gen 5 is fun, I learned a few decoration techniques and got a lot of glaze data. And refined my glazing technique.

Gradual improvement.

These have nice form but are a little heavy.

I worry that I do not strike the world hard enough often enough to hear the rocks and trees ring my name as I pass.

But I've amassed enough luck to have a permanent position and a back yard like this in the summer time.

Past versions of me are grinding their teeth in jealousy.
