That being said, the guy's from Syracuse, and I would be thrilled to be able to get spiedies, chicken riggies, salt potatoes, and Utica greens, which are real hard to find more than 50 miles out of Central NY.

Later in the series, Lackey mixed in Sherlock Holmes into three of the books, but he is not a primary character and the author doesn't use Holmes POV or narration at all. The series as a whole is not a mystery series.

I've read about a dozen of these The books are set in Edwardian England, although some are set in different places or earlier in the Victorian Era. The premise is that Elemental Magic (i.e. fire, air, earth, water) is real but secret. Also, each book is a re-telling of a known fairy tale.

The letter was from 1971 and the complaint was about Black Panther, The Falcon, Robbie Robertson, and the bare handful of black characters that Marvel had created for its books.

There was a clipped image on Elon's site that I didn't save. It was a clipping from a Marvel letter column page. The writer accused Marvel of pandering to blacks and liberals and noted that declining sales showed that the American people aren't putting up with it any more.

I liked most of the 80s Red Sonja run by Louise Simonson and Christie Marx but I did not like the movie at all. Don't remember there being an adaption, though.

Hockey does this as well to a lesser extent. The Macon Whoopee of the old CHL is the best punny team name of all time. Their main logo was a fig leaf.
