I've been reflecting on my 2024 - it included a divorce, switching countries, drunken police detentions, and sobriety. Two pieces of art brought me to tears repeatedly - The Tortured Poets Department and Starry Night. I feel fortunate to have been able to experience both.

grateful to the people who had this on their favourites lists - Hunter Schafer is phenomenal and should be talked about more.
Caught up with CUCKOO tonight & I totally get why this isn’t a movie for everyone but it was absolutely a movie made for me. A maddening, off-kilter nightmare, the ambiguity to Tilman Singer’s story is what reeled me in & kept me hooked. Schafer ruled, too. I loved LUZ & I loved CUCKOO.

Film #34: CUCKOO

Like the duplicitous birds that give the film its name, CUCKOO turns out to be a bizarre monster movie hidden inside an enigmatic slow-burn horror thriller. Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens are the tops, the build-up is intriguing, and once it finally gets going it's a kooky thrill.

@dearestclaude.bsky.social what is the best Hunter Schafer movie?

alone in the cinema for my fifth Nosferatu viewing so I stood to give this scene the respect it deserved.
Was finally well enough to go see #Nosferatu last night, and what an atmospheric, gory, *beautifully* shot thing it was.

Absolutely worth seeing in the cinema when every shot feels so carefully paced, and as composed as a painting.

I never had to imagine a world where David Lynch wasn't making something... his work was a validation of what's different in us, a celebration of oddness. We'll always have Garmonbozia.

the only thing i ever aspired to in my entire life writing, was to conjure even a shade of the feeling lynch’s work gave me, again. those first few minutes of twin peaks - all the way to the last few, the mirror, annie. the crackle of eraserhead. i will be looking for it for the rest of my life.

Thread: Irish people are lucky in having one of the best National Galleries (I am biased!) with a superb collection of major paintings by unknown artists & unusual pictures by famous artists, as well as the national collection of Irish art (pics: Vermeer, Clarke & Münter)

‘Blown Away’, now on #PrimeVideoUk.

I first saw this over 25 years ago. And all I can remember when I think of it is this scene, and what the film makers thought a pint of #Guinness, ‘the nectar of the Gods’ 🤔, served in an Irish bar, should look like. 🇮🇪🤣🤣🤣
