Bluetools is a 4-years EU funded project which will unravel the potential of marine microbiomes for healthier oceans and the blue bioeconomy.
🧪🧬Can marine science create safer, greener cosmetics?

BLUETOOLS is developing bio-based ingredients to replace petroleum-derived ones, from marine sugars that hydrate skin to natural polymers that stabilise creams.

🦠 Some microbes thrive in extreme places like salty Andes lakes & rocky shores.
BLUETOOLS is studying how they survive UV & dryness, searching for genes & enzymes that can be useful for anti-fouling, plastic degradation & more.
