Feeling stoked to find a superb male Rhinocerous Beetle Sinodendron cylindricum today on a broken chestnut tree near Bishopton (VC76). Rare in these parts with just a single other Central Belt record on NBN @glasgownathist.bsky.social @bugmanjones.com.web.brid.gy @ashwhiffin.bsky.social

Sadly, I missed #worldrobberflyday - but here’s some Leptarthrus brevirostris from Lochawe (VC98) last week. Excellent numbers, so a big local emergence, of a species that is near annual at the site @dipteristsforum.bsky.social @uk-soldierflies.bsky.social

High numbers of Pearl-bordered Fritillary and a decent count of five Chequered Skipper at my Argyll VC98 survey site near Loch Awe last week. It was good to catch up with them before the weather turned
