“The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority saw 90,000 fewer riders on its fixed-route service in October.” This is what happens when our state gov’t refuses to properly fund public transit. This is a violent policy decision that leads to isolation, unemployment, & food insecurity for our neighbors.
Complaints about #RIPTA gathered by pvdstreets.bsky.social described overcrowded buses and the need for riders to use rideshares to supplement cuts and lost service. Several riders said they feared they would lose employment because of the new schedule.

“The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority saw 90,000 fewer riders on its fixed-route service in October.” This is what happens when our state gov’t refuses to properly fund public transit. This is a violent policy decision that leads to isolation, unemployment, & food insecurity for our neighbors.
The decision of Trump pardoning Honduran ex-president Juan Orlando Hernández, who is a convicted drug trafficker, while illegally striking innocent Venezuelan fishermen is as violent as it is revealing. There is solidarity between ruling elites, while civilians suffer to benefit big oil and empire.

The #Trump administration (which has 2% of all billionaires in the US) is weaponizing the military against our most impoverished neighbors. We are subsidizing the billionaire class while we are paying taxes to deploy the military against our unhoused community members. No healthcare, only warfare.

An important perspective that is missing from the illegal firings of federal employees is that we already had less federal employees pre-DOGE than we had in the 1990s (despite the population growing by over 80 million in the last 3 decades. We already have 1/2 million less employees in 2024 than ‘94

The Democratic Party is clearly not interested in meaningful opposition. They are acting like Trump’s win was Reagan’s 2nd Term, Trump didn’t breach 50% of the vote, and this is one of the most narrow house/senate shifts for a presidential election. This is complicity in fascism.

We need a general strike at this point. I know Shawn Fain scheduled in 2028 but that is too far out. We need to meet the gravity and depravity of this moment.

For those that might not know, Providence is the least affordable market in the country. I’m looking for apartments, and found a landlord who uploaded a screen shot of a $15,000 mink coat they were looking to buy mixed in with the listing photos. Can’t make this up.

Section 504 provides life saving and affirming support for the Disability community whether that is free access to public education (FAPE), and housing protections. This predates ADA and IDEA. 25% of the country has a disability. Trump’s admin & sycophants are engaging in eugenics.

17 states have filed lawsuits to end Section 504, which would lead to students with disabilities no longer being guaranteed public education and afterschool programming. Section 504 allowed me to be in regular integrated classes as someone with ASD. Section 504 was a lifeline in my childhood.
My issue with DOGE is that those with institutional power act as if gov’t spending on meeting our most basic needs (food, shelter, belonging) is wasteful.
Yet there is no institutional challenge to fund ~$1 Trillion to the military, and billions to imprison immigrants. That is truly wasteful—

This is gutting Medicaid (FY23 budget was $880Bn). This is unquestionably a death sentence for our neighbors. Roughly 80 million people have Medicaid or about a 1/4th of the entire US population rely on it as a literal lifeline. This is social murder yet entirely legally permissible.
BREAKING: House Republicans have released their budget resolution. They are aiming to cut Medicaid by at least $880 billion, and cut SNAP by at least 20%.
