Valve has always been one to take a gamble, and we know that they have a pretty banger reputation of knowing how things could go in the future and acting on it, that’s why half life two required steam when it launched. It’ll benefit them well in the future, as well as developers.

I feel like the issue we’ve had with making VR games is that in the past they’ve been really hard to properly develop for, but now valve is just letting you get a free VR headset so you can make whatever VR games you want which is huge, not only for steam VR games but VR games in general.

I do hope that changes though, especially considering if you’re a part of the steameworks partnership system, you can request a steam frame developer unit and if you get it, you just have a free steam frame for developing VR games
