Holy excrement-smeared statue face, Batman! Seriously though, a considered and elegant take-down of a past hockey hero.
Thanks but no thanks, your history is now tainted. In my mind you were only ever a hockey player who happened to have some talent & at one time represented Canada. I never put you on a pedestal so you didn’t fall off but you’re definitely tarnished & ethically 🇺🇸

In 1889 a judge called Toby “pestilential” and jailed its editor. But the East End Watch-Dog – a Victorian citizen journalism newspaper – had already done something remarkable: it showed working people *they* could challenge power in print. Read its story ⬇️

I love writing about science in books that are accessible.
Real scientists are doing original, important work. Meanwhile I get to write little books to be read by just about anyone.
At paulajohanson.blogspot.com are my backlist books on science & more. At books2read.com/paula, my new ones.

Fun facts for all the racists blaming immigration (primarily from India) on Canada's measles woes:

-measles vaccination rate in India: 97% (2024)
-rate in Canada: 82.5% (2023)

So if you want to play this game (and I don't), more Indian immigrants would make us LESS vulnerable to measles.

Brian Pincott provides a good primer on property taxes and the hole we're digging ourselves into.
"From snow clearing, the disappearing urban canopy, the quality of sidewalks, responsiveness to 311, to the state of our streets, the state of Winnipeg’s public space is the abject reflection of what being the cheapest, and worst, looks like."
There's a big difference between being "affordable" & being "cheap". #winnipeg has tipped into being cheap. Have a look at the public realm: broken sidewalks, missing trees, garbage everywhere, snow clearing, etc. This is what cheap looks like.

Please stop saying things like "We had to vote for Carney, it was the only alternative to PP".

It's just not true. In fact, that kind of thinking made and continues to make things worse.

It's bloatware! Endless screenspace and popups about "do you want AI to summarize this for you, gosh it's sure a long document." It's a rules booklet! No! Go away!
