After today’s photograph description, l have included a poem l wrote about this scene.

Our picture shows a wide field of ripened grain, likely barley or wheat, stretching across the entire scene taken just down the road from where l live in rural Ireland.

The stalks are tall and heavy, their heads bowed and tangled, colored in warm shades of gold, bronze, and deep amber.

A narrow path runs straight through the center of the field, cutting a dark channel between the dense crops and drawing the eye toward the distant horizon.

In the far background, low farm buildings sit small and quiet against the skyline. Above them, the sky dominates nearly half of the image.

Thick, dark storm clouds roll overhead in layered shades of charcoal, grey, and steel blue. Lighter patches of sky glow faintly through breaks in the cloud cover, with a late afternoon approaching storm looming.

After the picture description, l have written a poem for this shot today.

Our picture shows an old, peaceful graveyard set in a lush green valley beneath a dramatic, storm-dark sky in Ireland.

In the foreground, a large, weathered gravestone dominates the lower centre of the image. Its surface is rough and uneven, mottled with pale yellow and grey lichen, showing many decades of exposure to the elements.

Surrounding it are many other gravestones of varying shapes and sizes, tall upright slabs, rounded markers, and shorter stones, scattered across thick, vivid green grass.

Our photograph centers on a large, solitary tree standing on the far bank of a calm river near my home here in Ireland.

The trees, like watchmen carved from dusk,
Stand guard where earth and heaven meet.

No breeze to stir the woven calm,
No sound but water’s gentle call;
Here time slows down, and hearts grow soft
Where evening’s golden quiet falls.

And in this hush, the day exhales,
A final breath, so warm and deep,
A promise whispered to the night:
Some beauty never goes to sleep.

Our picture shows a hearty and colourful spread of a traditional Irish fried breakfast laid out on a dining table.

The centre of the scene is dominated by a large rectangular tray completely filled with classic breakfast items, all cooked and arranged neatly.

Starting from the left side of the tray, there are halved grilled tomatoes, their surfaces slightly charred and glistening.

Beside them sits a generous pile of black pudding and white pudding, each sliced into thick round pieces and browned on the outside.

Moving further back, you can see sausages, plump and golden, arranged in a tidy row. Behind those sits a tall stack of square slices of Irish potato farls,(potato pancakes),lightly toasted and piled high.

Towards the right side of the tray, there are fried eggs, sunny-side up, with bright yellow yolks surrounded by lightly crisped whites.

Close by, a heap of fried mushrooms appears dark and glossy from cooking. At the front right corner of the tray, there’s a generous mound of Irish sausages and crispy streaky bacon, curled and deep red with crisp edges.

In front of the tray, taking up the bottom foreground of the picture, is a white bowl filled with baked beans in tomato sauce. They are warm and glossy, and a metal spoon rests inside, ready to serve.

Our picture shows a warmly lit lounge area inside a modern hotel in Oslo, Norway which we used as our bases when we visited in 2017.

The space feels cozy, stylish, and quintessentially Scandinavian in design with clean lines, natural materials, and soft lighting.

The most striking feature is a cluster of large, woven pendant lamps hanging from the ceiling. They are shaped like rounded lanterns, made of a ribbed wicker or rattan material, and glow gently from within.

Their warm amber light spills downward in soft rings, casting patterned shadows across the room.

Beneath the lamps is a long wooden table made from smooth, pale timber with visible grain patterns. On the table sit two small round wooden trays, each holding three small white ceramic cups, perhaps for tea or candles.

Around the table are cushioned chairs upholstered in deep teal fabric. Their curved backs give them a comfortable, welcoming look.

In the background, off to the left, are a few more lounge chairs,dark purple and blue as well as a small circular side table.

The back wall is covered with tall, heavy curtains in a greyish tone, creating a sense of privacy and softness. To the right, part of the wall is lined with glossy blue storage lockers or cabinets that reflect the light from the hanging lamps.

Their surface is shiny enough to catch hints of color from elsewhere in the room.

Overall, the room feels is a relaxed communal space for a quiet sitting area where guests can read, meet, or unwind.

Behind this darker band, the sun is setting, and its light breaks through in glowing patches of warm colours of pale gold, peach, and pink, illuminating the edges of the clouds from behind.

These illuminated clouds seem to blush softly against the surrounding darker tones, creating a vivid contrast.

After my picture description, l have written a poem inspired by this scene.

Our picture shows a breathtaking sunset over a quiet rural landscape in Arklow, Ireland.

The sky is a smooth gradient that begins with deep purples and blues at the top and melts down into vivid pinks, warm oranges, and glowing yellows near the horizon.

Silhouetted against this colourful backdrop are the dark outlines of trees, one large, full tree on the left and several smaller, sparser trees to the right.

Their branches are black shapes against the light, giving the scene a calm but dramatic contrast.

Near the upper right of the image, a thin white streak, likely a jet’s vapour trail, cuts diagonally across the sky, glowing slightly as it catches the last of the sun’s light.

The overall mood is peaceful, warm, and quietly awe-inspiring, as if capturing a perfect, fleeting moment at the edge of day turning into nigh.

Beneath the sky of fading fire,
Where dusk unthreads the day’s desire,

A whispered promise in the light.

Here evening hums its gentle tune,
