There’s a lot of reasons why I DONT want to work service forever like exhausting hours and some people are assholes and I’m trying to transition to full time work from home instead but this in particular is less of a big deal than our other shittier policies lol

I’ve worked service in some capacity for like 20 years thats just how it is 🤷🏼 Obviously I’m not the type of person unable to tolerate being professionally friendly to strangers, and if someone isn’t that’s totally fine but they’re probably not working a public facing service job.

I think it might be a difference in personalities too because frankly I really don’t mind engaging with people. I can tell when someone needs help or when they want to be left alone. So functionally, the “new rule” is going to change absolutely nothing for me. It’s only announced performatively.

Yeah it’s literally just putting some extra spacial guidelines on something that was already a rule. We’re already supposed to ask everyone (within reason) if they need help and we’re supposed to be friendly. When I was briefed on this my initial thought was “isn’t that what we already do?”
