Neurodivergent people have always been there (we just weren't 'looking' before)

theneuroscienceofeve...

The idea that the neurodiversity is a 'recent development' and hasn't been shaping all of human society forever is as wrong as it is unhelpful

My latest post explains

#ND #Autism #ADHD
Neurodivergent people have always been there (we just weren't 'looking' before)
Many believe neurodivergence (autism, ADHD etc.) is 'new'. But it's been around and has shaped society for as long as humans have existed. We just didn't recognise it for what it was.

And to think just four days ago, after lecturing the Europeans on free speech, JD Vance was in my Twitter replies lecturing me about free speech too.

Oh the shamelessness!

This is who they are:
Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia has published a letter sent to him by Trump’s Department of Justice threatening to potentially prosecute him for criticizing Elon Musk.

Having not read the sentencing remarks, I’m cautious about rushing to conclusions, but on its face Feathers McGraw appears to be a prime example of the rampant sentence inflation that has led to chronic overcrowding in our zoos and the unedifying spectacle of animals being released early.
Curious to know whether
@barristersecret.bsky.social thinks 30 years behind bars for robbery and attempted murder was a fair sentence for Feathers McGraw? It seems a bit steep #WallaceAndGromit

Now that there’s been an arrest I feel safe sharing this story:

TMZ reached out to my job asking if I worked there. I called them up to see what they wanted. They claimed to have multiple sources saying I was the killer, then expressed shock that the NYPD hadn’t contacted me yet.

Thrilled to be able to unveil the commission I've been working away on for the past couple of months - a large felt sunrise panorama. I really fell in love with this one as I ironed and finished the felt, finding gorgeous details in the rich surface. And the new owners love it too! 🧡

Bluesky gives us the one thing we've been asking for in this format: The ability to choose who we follow and how to see it.

That's it. It's never been complicated. Twitter had it years ago, Threads has never had it.

A holiday that's boozy for many people is a good time for this reminder . . .

Do not ever — not one time, not for any reason — pressure someone to have a drink of alcohol that they don't want.

Not ever, not one sip, not under any circumstances.

To my body and mind, I say this...

If you wake up during the night, you're staying up. I will no longer try to get back to sleep.

If you don't like it, don't wake up during the night, simple as that.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

It's a handmade stop motion action adventure based on Scottish folklore
We made it over 2.5 years with a small budget and just two people.
It's a true passion project for us, and I hope you like it!

I keep saying that transphobes are the ones who use weird unintuitive definitions of things. I have seen *very* few of my friends' genitals, and none of their gene sequences, gametes, or internal reproductive organs. I still feel qualified to say eg "Sarah is a woman", "Richard is a man".
You can observe this in action by looking at how "Male means ____ and female means ____, simple as that and there's no denying or altering it." has evolved in our lifetimes. It was genitals, then it was chromosomes, then gametes, then the clunky "organized around the production of certain gametes".
