I missed the hellthread shit today but a good lesson just in general when you do something accidentally, out of ignorance or lack of care, that hurts someone or makes them feel unsafe and they tell you, that is a gift of trust. Honor it as such. Don't get defensive. Listen, so you can be better.

Sexual abuse ain’t a fucking joke and I’m not here to be kind. It’s painful as hell and triggering and the least y’all can do is shut up and listen to victims.

That’s all. It’s not fucking hard. Do better.

This hits close to home. For the last 24 years I have worked closely with children who are victims/survivors of sexual abuse (and some parents due to long-standing generational cycles of sexual abuse within their families). So yeah I 100% agree, that it's no joke and victims must be heard.

Watch Victim/Suspect #VictimSuspect on @netflix.
Emmy-winning Investigative journalist Rae de Leon uncovers & examines the pattern of young women being ignored by authorities after reporting sexual assaults & secondary victimization that happens during investigation. #RapeCulture

BTW, if you work around/adjacent to Sexual violence circles, no case study or book is complete without the mention of the Tuscaloosa Police Department. They are known for victim blaming, shaming, and secondary victimization of sexual assault victims.
Remember Megan Rondini?

And I KNOW antiblackness isn’t taken seriously by many. I see the pushback that is done. And I’m here to make it known I will fight even if I’m alone in it.

I came too far to be quiet. I will keep that in check. And I will have this same energy when it’s transphobia, homophobia, SWERF, everything.

Watching #VictimSuspect by @raeoflion on @netflix just brings a lot of the chapters in “Asking for It: The Alarming Rise of Rape Culture – and What We Can Do about It” By Kate Harding @KateHarding to life. #RapeCulture #ViolenceAgainstWomen
