#Humitas always remind me of Saturday mornings in #NYC. This was a rare treat in our Dominican neighborhood. As a second gen #Ecuadorian, I didn’t grow up eating humitas, but I grew up watching my parents eat them. So now, I buy them, freeze them, and when I miss home, I pop one in the air fryer.

#Humitas always remind me of Saturday mornings in #NYC. This was a rare treat in our Dominican neighborhood. As a second gen #Ecuadorian, I didn’t grow up eating humitas, but I grew up watching my parents eat them. So now, I buy them, freeze them, and when I miss home, I pop one in the air fryer.
I used to sit at my own graduations wondering what it would take for me, an Ecuadorian kid from pre-gentrified 1980’s NYC, to be on that stage watching graduation from that perspective. I bring that child every time i attend graduation. Congratulations to all the #MontclairStateUniversity graduates!
