Really cool to visit the inside of the observatory — and to view the moon through the telescope!
A large telescope inside an observatory is pointed toward the night sky through an open dome. The scene is illuminated with a red light, casting a glow on the metal walls of the observatory. In the dark sky, the Moon is visible undergoing a total lunar eclipse, appearing dim and reddish. The telescope is an older, classic model with various attachments and mechanisms visible along its length.

Perfect night last night for the total lunar eclipse, viewed at Northwestern University's Dearborn Observatory. Unfortunately, I forgot to charge my camera with 30x optical zoom, so these Pixel 9 Pro shots will have to do. The zoom on the telescope was much better in any case 😉
