Why do I write? To discover what I forgot, to claim my own truth, to allow others into my world, to heal and be healed. All of this and more.
The Writer Within: Lessons and Reflections
'/' What motivates me to write? I reflect on this each day, especially when I haven't carved out the time to do so. The blank page calls to me. I've embraced the advice of setting specific goals, whether that’s a certain number of words or dedicating a set time to sit in front of the screen or with an open notebook.

No matter now much I want to scream, “I told you so” in order to vindicate our warnings, I know we must do whatever we can to get those “others” to join us. Not really talking about the cult members, but the independents & those who are starting to see the light.

Writing My Memoir: Lessons from Life and Vietnam
Earlier this week, I gave a long-anticipated presentation on writing my Memoir. The audience was a medium-sized group of Seniors--all over fifty-five, and mostly in their seventies plus--which meets monthly for lunch. I approached the group facilitator last September, shortly after "Stories Never Told" was published. I was ready to promote it, certain that, being of similar age, many others had been impacted by the war in Vietnam.

From Despair to Courage: Navigating Sleeplessness
Sometimes I am still in bed at 11 a.m. Dave and I watch TV and stay up until 11:30 nearly every night, and sometimes I have bouts of insomnia. By the time I fall asleep at 2 or 3 in the morning, I find it hard to wake up. Insomnia is not new to me. A problem to work out, a project to plan, sometimes the plot of a recent well-written novel, or the disturbing events on a Crime show will do it.
