Bishop of Norwich in the Church of England & lead bishop for the environment - seeking life in all its fullness. Born at 325 ppm atmospheric carbon, now at 412.
A happy day in North Norfolk with Bishop Reginald from New Britain Islands in PNG - Binham Priory, Mrs Temple’s cheese (much Binham Blue enjoyed, though +Reginald thought it odd that we allowed cheese to go mouldy), Wells Lifeboat, Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, pub meal - much good conversation.

I’m so fortunate to be a Patron of Thornage Hall and this afternoon had the joy of blessing their new £1.3M. building for older residents with physical and cognitive needs, opened by the Lord Lieutenant. May the new house be a place of joy, delight, welcome and care, as well as a loving home.

An excellent morning visiting AVIVA which employs 5,500 people in Norwich. Fascinating conversations about community engagement, staff volunteering, and a culture of service and care to their customers. And a tour of the 1904 Norwich Union Marble Hall.

It was good to be part of a delegation of faith leaders meeting Katie White MP, the Climate Minister, in advance of COP30 in Brazil. We were able to express our shared commitment to work together on climate change, seeking the wellbeing of our global neighbours.

Meet Caleb Stradling (and a curlew.) Caleb is the winner of this year's Bishop of Norwich Ecology Prize. His research into nesting curlews, while at @uniofeastanglia.bsky.social is already helping the endangered birds. @dioceseofnorwich.bsky.social www.dioceseofnorwich.org/curlews-help...

My amendment to help protect rare chalk streams (there are just over 200 in the world, most in the south east of England and many in @dioceseofnorwich.bsky.social) was passed in the @houseoflords.parliament.uk last night. Read more at www.dioceseofnorwich.org/bishop-of-no...

The Road Victims Trust supports families affected by drink drivers and drugged drivers. In the @houseoflords.parliament.uk yesterday I asked how the Transport Minister could encourage Police and Crime Commissioners to support the charity's activities with grants.

Great to be at the 30th birthday of Scrapbox at Reepham, including beginning to knock through to the neighbouring unit as they expand their shop. So far this year they have sold 12 tonnes of items (mostly for crafting, children’s groups, community projects) that would have gone to landfill.

A happy confirmation service at Old Catton. One candidate said: “I didn’t want the service to stop”. Many tears and much rejoicing.

A joyous confirmation of Christine and Malcolm at St Martin’s Thompson amidst many knitted mice and medieval green men spewing their hedgerow meal.

Good to be with the men at HMP Wayland at the start of Prison Week. Their worship band was superb and rich conversations followed.

Good to meet up again with Cardinal Fabio Baggio, Director General of Borgo Laudato Si, and to see the progress made with this Pope Francis legacy since I was last here in January.

Stunning walk around Lake Albano amidst drifts of cyclamen. Now breakfast with a view.

After a demanding few weeks, an early morning walk around Lake Albano, the volcanic crater below the Papal summer palace at Castel Gandolfo, is just the tonic.

A great privilege to be at Castel Gandolfo for the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ ecological encyclical Laudato Si. What an impact it has had for how we care for our common home. But more to do! This afternoon we were addressed by Pope Leo and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Today I sat through some excellent speeches in the House of Lords. The clear message was that the ‘Assisted Dying’ Bill needs much more scrutiny. The expertise in the House is immense. Deep concerns were raised by doctors, nurses, lawyers, and those of us experienced in pastoral care of the dying.
