While I agree with this sentiment, and maybe I’m being the cynic he’s talking about, but hard to fear long game isn’t already in grave jeopardy. Ignorance, apathy, me-first, and lazy electorate seem to reflect state of too many in US going forward. Hope I’m wrong.
If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

Besides every other DEFCON 1 warning sign, I’ll never understand how his voters thought they know him better than those that worked in his administration, including his own VP. Lifelong republicans, decorated service members, that put their careers and reputations on the line to caution the public.
As a Trump biographer I'll say this however many times folks need to hear it: it won't be OK. It's going to be worse than you imagine. Trump was a national emergency starting years ago; no one took seriously those who said so. Media normalized him and Musk—who's just as dangerous. A hurricane nears.
